The second activity to promote English proficiency for young staff was a visit to Wall Street English Jing’an Temple on the evening of March 29th. Nearly 20 young medical staff had a salon by the directions of David in the English corner. First of all, Mrs Zhao showed us around the center. She told us that we were supposed to communicate all in English here to build up a environment of learning English. Later we had a free talk about Exercise and Fitness. All the young guys opened their mouths to express themselves. At the mean time, David made us familiar with the high frequency words of sports, such as body builder, warm-up, rowwing machine, do Yugo and etc. David also taught us how to match these nouns with verbs. In the salon, we learned new vocabulary and practise as well. It is easier for us to speak fluently on the topic of Exercise And Fitness after the salon class. And cartoons on the David’s powerpoint show left us a marked memory. In the summary, we thought that it’s very important to keep the balance between work and life. As the old saying goes, if you don’t have time for rest and exercise, finally you will leave time for disease.
